Fiberglass offers an opportunity for unique flycasting sensations, but in certain circumstances it also offers a definite technical benefit. With the Redneck, we went all in on the technical side.
S2 glass fibers makes it possible to roll an 8'6 blank with a mid-tip flex action which will stay reasonably light, and keep tip rebound to a minimum.
Fiberglass has a natural capacity to work well with very different line weights. The power of the Redneck (IP=115g for a 6wt) has been selected to take advantage of this huge versatility. It will cast a wf5 with delicacy to present a trout or a bass with a nice dry like a big sedge or a terrestrial. It will equally well find godd distance with a wf6 or even a 7, floating or intermediate. There you're into streamer territory, and huge dries like poppers and gurglers. You'll fish the Redneck for for trout and many other predatory fish, both in feshwater and in the salt. The S2 fiber and the blank generous power reserve will let you fight hard a bass in the structure, or a mullet in the harbour. This combination of delicate presentation and backbone is also ideal for flycarping, up to 10lb at least.
In a nutshell, the Redneck concept is about finesse on point, but dirty fight when things get real.
