|The snapper is found in the Mediterranean, on both sides of the Atlantic and in the English Channel. It is part of the sparidae family and spends most of its life offshore,moving to the coast in the warm season. It mainly feeds on shellfish, molluscs and small octopuses and squid. Its numbers have risen along the French coast in recent years, a boon to many anglers.
For the most part snapper are caught with slidebaits like tenya or madai/kabura. Getting the better of this guarded fish requires a progressive rod that bends from tip to butt. With such a rod, the fish does not feel the spine when they strike, and the risk of unhooking during the fight is greatly reduced. We chose three blanks we think fit the bill:
