Pelagic zander fishing
Visual fishing through the sonar screen
Adrenaline guaranteed!
With sonar/GPS units becoming more and more powerful, pelagic zander fishing is a trendy technique. Electronic brands now offer 360° views to cover as much ground as possible, as well as instantaneous 2D views with stunning resolution. These technologies are called active target by Lowrance and Livescope by Garmin. This fishing technique is particularly suited to large environments. It consists of covering ground in a boat, locating large echoes, potentially between two waters, and lowering a lure vertically to lure the targeted predator. Pelagic fish are often solitary and of good size. In order to stay in the sounder's cone, the lures are weighted heavily. The jig head are between 30 and 70gr. The lures are finess type to not create resistance and measure between 15 and 22cm.
Three blanks for three different powers.
To fish effectively in vertical, the blanks must be short (between 1m80 and 2m00), reactive, powerful and have resonance.
Blanks must be short, flexible at the tip to facilitate suction, have a first hard point high enough to easily set the hook, a progressive section in the middle of the blank to be comfortable in combat and a heel that presents good qualities in terms of resonance and precision of animation. The power of the blank evolves according to the environment and notably the depth. We have selected 3 blanks of different powers.
- IMMWS68MX : 2m03, 7-35g, X-Fast. This blank is a real legend for vertical pike fishing. It is frequently cut back to 1.90m (please let us know when choosing rings). It can be used in pelagic fishing on lead heads up to 35g and a 6" finess.
- SSH 637-1 X-Ray : 1m90, 30-70gr, Fast. The ultimate reference for vertical pelagic fishing. This blank has been specially designed for this use with European specifications. It is built in 3 parts. A fine tip (1.8mm) to facilitate the suction of the lure and precise animations. A second part which allows you to set the hook with authority while offering progressiveness to the fight. Finally, a last part that offers a big reserve of power. SSH is the abbreviation for Sharp Shooting.
- MB 667-1 IM: 1m98, 20-60gr, fast. An excellent alternative for those who want a longer blank than the SSH 637 as well as the MB 668-1 IM. This blank will also be very effective for pike fishing with lures up to 16cm.
