mesures de ce blank au pied à coulisse, en mm, tous les 5 cm en partant du talon

RX868MX 11,64 11,59 11,4 11,16 10,94 10,74 10,52 10,26 10,05 9,83

ID of a eva long grip is 8 mm :

Diamètre du percement intérieur : 8 mm (0.315 inch)
so you can ream the grip and fit it like a finger in a ..in a eva grip

our long grip are 42 cm long ,so hard to extend, but easy to shorten

Tanks Goulven! You really provide excellent service here on the forum. :) I feel at home for sure. I will follow your guidelines and suggestions. I will try different solutions for those blanks I order. I kind of like the old school and will use a dps seat as well, that seat have been around for long time now and things that last often where of great functional design from the start.
Tanks to everyone that helped me in the thread and you have a great life till next time!
Anders

hey Slaz, don't forget to come up with some feedback about the rods you built, and a couple of pics would be nice too ^^

LeMoutch!
I sure will. :) For the blanks I purchase from rod house I will post here in the forum. I have a blog where I show how I make some rods, mostly as a request from people in fishing forum here in Sweden. But the blog haven't been updated for a long time now. But for what it's worth, check it out. http://rodbuilding-piratefishing.blogspot.se/
Now I'm off to the country side, don't know what kind of weather you have in your part of France today but here in the south of Sweden there's spring for the first time, 12 degrees and not a cloud in the sky! :o Think I will put on my swimming trunks and go for bath in the sea.

north of France have been blessed with superb weather for a week now, there are even hatches here and there. rising fishes have been spotted on my reservoir.
I hope you'll have a great early season in Sweden, and loads of salmonids taking dries!

Hi again!
I got a question for someone that build a rod based on a MX 68 blank. Where about do the rod have a neutral balance if you use a standard reel in 2000-2500 size that weigh around 250 g and have a full handle of EVA or cork and no metal weighted butt?

And another question while I'm in action, Checking the forum I noticed when talking about the thickness of fishing line I read "comptes monter jusqu'à 30 ou 35/100, tunnel de kt 4.5 sinon". What does 35/100 means? Is it a line of 0.35 mm thickness?

Have a great day!
Anders

Hi Slaz,
This size of reel is good for this rod, the balance will depend of the distance between the butt and the reel, more the distance is high and better will be the balance. However the full handle helps to the balance. You can nevertheless put a little weight in order to equilibrate your rod at the end.

Yes 35/100 means 0,35 mm

Tanks for your reply, Baptiste! And don't apologize for the english languish, I think you're really good at it! For the balance part I needed the proximal position for the reel seat on the blank because that way I know the length of material in EVA or cork I need to get for the handle. There's no need to buy a lot of material that just goes to waist. And as my main purpose for the rods are vertical use I want them to be well balanced without any metal in the butt. Are your MX68 well balanced and do you use it for vertical fishing? If it is, what is the distance from the butt to the centre of the reel foot? About 30 cm?

Hi Slaz,

Regarding the handle no matter if you take EVA or cork, models sold on Rodhouse are long and you will have probably to cut them (they are perfectly made for that). I own a 68MX essentially for a vertical use, my reel seat is at 26 cm from the butt and my rod is well-balanced with a Shimano complex 2500 (200g) but I put a masselote butt (Matagi) whose the weigh is 17g. I think if you don't use any metal in the butt, you will have to increase this distance in order to reach the balance. Furthermore if you fish only in vertical, you can take more little rings to gain weigh on the front of the rod.

Great info, Baptiste!
I'm assuming the distance to be 30 +/- some few cm from the butt. When talking about rings, do you mounted 1 KBAG ring for strength using the KR concept or do you have the KTAG rings all the way as running guides?
